Two of Iowa's highest-ranked fighters will battle it out Sept. 30 at Wild Rose Casino & Resort when Extreme Challenge returns to Jefferson, Iowa. Ramiro "Junior" Hernandez, a UFC veteran and No. 1-ranked 145-pound fighter in Iowa, will fight Anthony Baccam of Des Moines, ranked No. 7 at 155 pounds. At stake is the vacant 155-pound Iowa championship.

The Extreme Challenge is the second-longest running Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event in the nation and will celebrate its 21st anniversary later this year.

Led by MMA Hall of Fame promoter Monte Cox, the Extreme Challenge has been held in 22 states and 3 foreign countries. The event has produced more than 20 world champions, including nine in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Among the event's champions are Pat Miletich, Matt Hughes, Jens Pulver, Sean Sherk, Robbie Lawler and Rich Franklin.

Extreme Challenge started in Bettendorf, Iowa, in 1996.
